National Immunization Awareness Month 2023

national immunization awareness month

August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM), which means it's the perfect time to make sure your kids are up to date on all recommended vaccinations before they go back to school.

Just like a child learns to read over time, immunizations teach the developing immune system how to respond to viruses, so they can focus on being kids!

We offer same-day appointments Monday through Friday, 8:15 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., and pre-scheduled appointments for the immunization clinic on Wednesdays from 8:15 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. Kids through the age of 18 are eligible for the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program if they meet one of the following requirements:

  • Medicaid-eligible
  • American Indian/Alaskan Native
  • Uninsured
  • Underinsured (defined as a child with health insurance, but the benefit plan does not include routine immunizations)

There will be additional immunization clinics during NIAM to help increase access to routine vaccinations for kids. Call us at 563-326-8618 to make an appointment!

  • Thursday, August 17: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. & 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Monday, August 21: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, August 24: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

We also can provide free dental screenings to kids during immunization clinics. Dental screenings are required for all kindergarten and ninth-grade students in the state of Iowa.
