Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety

Bike and pedestrian safety awareness banner with text “Bike & Ped Safety: Share the Road,” featuring a smiling adult cyclist wearing a helmet and yellow shirt riding a bicycle on a suburban street, with a car approaching in the background, trees and utility poles visible, and official logos for Scott County Health Department and Rock Island County Public Health Department on a blue and green graphic layout.

The Quad Cities communities are working together to increase bicycle and pedestrian safety. It’s important to remember that safety is the highest priority on all Quad Cities trails.

Walkers, runners, rollers, cyclists, and all trail users should follow these trail etiquette tips:

  • Travel at a rate of speed that is reasonable and cautious.
  • Pass on the left and announce yourself.
  • Keep your pet on a leash and in your physical control.
  • Clean up litter, animal waste, or other items along the trail.
  • Avoid trail use when under the influence of alcohol or other controlled substances.

It's important for drivers to remember that the road isn’t just for motorized vehicles. The Quad Cities is a multi-modal community, shared by walkers, runners, rollerbladers, and cyclists. Let’s all enjoy the weather and the road safely, ensuring everyone has the space to move freely and confidently.
