Press Release: A joint investigation, involving daytime residential burglaries in Bettendorf, Davenport, and rural Scott County, has resulted in the arrest of two suspects. Kalandis Rashird McNeil Sr. and Erica Elizabeth Kauer were both arrested on 02/07/18 in Bettendorf, after a Bettendorf Police Officer observed them in the act of burglarizing a residence.
The Bettendorf Police Department filed the following charges against McNeil: Burglary 2nd, Conspiracy, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Trafficking Stolen Weapons, Theft 2nd, Interference with a Firearm, and Criminal Mischief 3rd. McNeil also had an active warrant at the time of arrest for a Parole Violation. Kauer was charged with: Burglary 2nd, Theft 2nd, and Conspiracy. Kauer also had an active warrant at the time of arrest out of Rock Island County.
Additional charges have also been filed by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office. McNeil was charged with Burglary 2nd, Theft 1st, and Ongoing Criminal Conduct, Failure to Register for the Sex Offender Registry 2nd Offense, and Criminal Mischief 3rd. Kauer was also additionally charged with Burglary 2nd, Theft 1st, and Ongoing Criminal Conduct.
McNeil and Kauer are suspected in committing multiple daytime burglaries over the past month. There is probable cause to support the above charges related to several of our burglary investigations. However, we continue to work on gathering more evidence on some of the other burglaries they are also suspected in. Therefore, this continues to be an on-going investigation and further information is limited.
