Davenport Police Press Release:
On Monday, July 18, 2016 at approximately 11:40 PM Davenport Police responded to 1300 Ripley St in reference to a shots fired call. A witness provided information on a possible suspect vehicle which officers observed leaving the area at a high rate of speed.
Subsequently, officers attempted to stop the vehicle in a parking lot at 1600 Rockingham Rd. The suspect vehicle rammed a marked squad car consequently two officers discharged their service weapons. The suspect vehicle drove over the curb and fled westbound on Rockingham Rd. The vehicle was later recovered in the area of 500 Pine St.
At approximately 12:39 AM officers responded to Genesis Hospital in reference to an adult male with a gunshot wound who had been transported by private vehicle. This subject was identified as the driver of the vehicle from Rockingham Rd. This subject is currently in stable condition with a non-life threatening injury. The name of the subject is not being released at this time.
The names of the two Police Officers involved in the incident are not being released at this time, out of courtesy of notification to their families first. Both Police Officers have been placed on Administrative Leave as directed by Department policy.
As a Davenport Police Department protocol, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Public Safety, Division of Criminal Investigation, were notified and will investigate the incident. All further inquiries on this incident should be directed to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.
