Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Overdose Prevention Consultant educates, promotes public health and safety by partnering with community stakeholders to raise awareness and assess readiness to address overdoses under the Overdose Data to Action grant guidelines. Serves as point of contact in collaborating with healthcare community, public safety agencies, and other community partners, to promote CDC guidelines and encourages ongoing training on stigma, health equity, and the Prescription Monitoring Program. This is a grant funded position.
Job Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develops and delivers evidence-based materials to healthcare providers on best practices for overdose prevention and management.
- Provides one-on-one educational outreach geared towards healthcare providers who prescribe or dispense controlled substances with a focus on opioids.
- Identifies and addresses gaps in community resources related to overdose prevention and response.
- Fosters relationships and develops formal plans with diverse, multi-sector partners committed to working collaboratively to problem-solve overdose related issues.
- Serves as primary point of contact for collaboration and strategy implementation using the PHAST; responsible for assessing, establishing and maintaining the critical elements of the PHAST.
- Acts as a liaison between local public safety providers and the local public health program staff; prepares data presentations, as well as facilitates discussions on data interpretation, needs, limitations and gaps.
- Establishes and maintains positive, service-oriented relationships with healthcare providers; acts as liaison between the healthcare community and the local public health program.
- Recruits and schedules visits with stakeholders, maintains detailed documentation of visits, conducts follow up as necessary and conducts evaluations of all visits to measure outreach efforts and behavior change.
- Supports an asset-based capacity development strategy, offering a wide array of overdose prevention related programs and services that provide technical assistance, capacity building, and professional development opportunities.
- Responsible for increasing readiness through information and education through Community Readiness Surveys; compiles and interprets assessment data.
- Utilizes program-related data systems through Qualtrics software.
- Maintains documents and files, updates database information to document program activities.
- Demonstrates the ability to exemplify, by his/her actions, the County PRIDE philosophy.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Standards for Initial Consideration
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines
Bachelor?s degree in Public Health, Health Science, Healthcare, Social Work, or related field; AND two (2) years of experience in public health, health education, community outreach; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge of
- Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid driver's license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office environment and at various locations throughout Scott County.
Ability to attend meetings during various times throughout the day and evening, based on need.
May be required to lift and move meeting and office supplies up to 50 pounds.
