BE READY QC EMERGENCY RESOURCE FAIR TAKES PLACE AUGUST 17th

Bettendorf, IA - The area’s second annual community emergency resource fair will take place on Saturday, August 17, from 1:00 – 5:00 pm at the Quad Cities Waterfront Convention Center, located at 2021 State Street in Bettendorf, Iowa. The Be Ready QC Emergency Resource Fair is a family-friendly event focused on educating the public on emergency and disaster preparedness. Brian Payne, Scott County EMA Director, shared “the goal of the fair is to make our community more resilient”.

The event is free and is open to the public. There will be information booths, hands-on training opportunities, activities for all ages, giveaways, and more. Jim Hawkes, Scott County EMA Deputy Director, elaborated “we are pleased to offer this fair in our community. We hope many people take advantage of this opportunity to learn new skills and gain knowledge about resources in our community that can be utilized in a time of need.”

Local community partners will be on hand to provide Stop the Bleed, Hands-Only CPR, and Fire Extinguisher training. Attendees can experience the Police Virtual Reality Simulator and view a bomb squad robot demonstration. A fire truck will also be on site that will allow the kids to tour and operate a fire hose, as well as a selfie station. The National Weather Service will provide a weather presentation, and Scott County Emergency Management Agency will present on two topics: information about weather sirens and “developing a survival mindset.” There will be many informational booths at the event, as well as Kona Ice Truck. Tourniquets will be given to participants who complete the Stop the Bleed training and there will be door prizes to sign up to win. The fair is sponsored by CAER group, Constellation, SERVPRO of the Quad Cities, Blaze Restoration, Inc., and Werner Restoration Services, Inc., with support from numerous community partners.
