Scott County Auditor Reminds Voters to Vote on January 28 for the Special Election

DAVENPORT – Scott County Auditor Kerri Tompkins wants voters in northern Scott County to be aware of a Special Election on January 28. “Voters must determine the replacement for Senate District 35 due to Senator Cournoyer’s appointment as Lieutenant Governor,” said Tompkins. Poll sites will be open on January 28 from 7:00 am-8:00 pm.

Where can I vote in person before Election Day?

Please know each in-person voting site does provide curbside voting. This allows voters to remain in their car and staff will bring the ballot to them to complete while staff waits.

Auditor Tompkins is excited to share the opportunity for voters to utilize the ExpressVote machines to reduce costs. These machines are available at every poll site during each election. Using these devices saves the county $.08 per individual ballot. The ExpressVote machine provides a touch screen and prints the voter’s selected results on a paper ballot, which the voter then feeds into the tabulator. “Other Iowa counties use these machines on a regular basis to minimize costs with positive voter feedback. My hope is Scott County voters will also embrace this change to save money,” said Tompkins.
