Scott County Audit Report Released
Baker Tilly US, LLP (formerly known as Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP) has released an audit report on Scott County, Iowa. The County had local tax revenue of $335,882,963 for the year ended June 30, 2020, which included $24,182,771 in tax credits from the state. The County forwarded $311,700,192 of the local tax revenue to the townships, school districts, cities and other taxing bodies in the County.
The County retained $53,516,264 of the local tax revenue to finance County operations, a 7.8 percent increase from the prior year. Other revenues included charges for service of $8,384,889, operating grants and contributions of $6,521,082, capital grants and contributions of $1,204,224, local option sales tax of $4,939,394, state tax replacement credits of $4,137,625, state shared revenues of $4,497,873, unrestricted investment earnings of $1,158,889 and other general revenues of $4,919,906.
Expenses for County operations totaled $83,396,173, a 7.0 percent increase from the prior year. Expenses included $28,562,069 for public safety and legal services, $5,630,174 for mental health, and $13,109,065 for administration.
