Public Notice is hereby given that the Scott County Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing to take comments on the proposed adoption of a Revised Future Land Use Map as an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan for Scott County. The Planning and Zoning Commission will be taking additional comments on the map revisions that were recently presented at three public meetings held in various locations in Scott County.
The initial Future Land Use Map was adopted in 1998 as an element of the Scott County Development Plan. It was revised and re-adopted in its current form as part of the 2008 Scott County Comprehensive Plan. The Future Land Use Map is intended to be used as one of the criteria in reviewing rezoning applications to amend the Scott County Zoning Map. The Land Use Policies in the 2008 Comprehensive Plan state that, while Scott County encourages development to locate within cities, one of the guidelines for reviewing proposed new development in the rural unincorporated area of the county is “compliance with the adopted Future Land Use Map.”
An objective of Scott County Land Use Policies is to maintain a Future Land Use Map to graphically illustrate where the general areas for residential, commercial and industrial development within the unincorporated areas of Scott County may be appropriate and where areas are expected to be preserved for farmland, conservation natural areas or recreation. The Planning and Zoning Commission will also consider textual amendments to the Comprehensive Plan to explain the intended application of the revised Future Land Use Map.
The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in the 1st Floor Board Room of the Scott County Administrative Center, 600 West Fourth St, Davenport, Iowa, at 7:00 p.m.
The Planning and Zoning Commission will hear comments on the proposed revised Future Land Use Map and other amendments to the Comprehensive Plan in order to make a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors on such amendments and revised map. The final decision on the adoption of any amendments will be made by the Board of Supervisors.
Additional information is available for review at the Planning and Development Department and a downloadable version of the map is available on the Scott County website.
