Telework Agreement

IT is fielding many requests for Telework. This e-mail is intended to answer many of the questions associated to working from home for Scott County Information Technology supported Offices and Departments.

IMPORTANT: If your Office/Department has needs to support telework, please complete the “Telework Department Estimate” spreadsheet in section 1 below to provide IT with necessary information to begin to address this need

To date, in response to telework requests:

  1. IT in partnership with HR has finalized the attached Telework Agreement
    1. A signed Telework Agreement will be required to be completed by the person to be working from home and their office/department
  2. IT is prepared to support several options of connectivity for Telework to include:
    1. Virtual Private Network (VPN)
      • Provides network connectivity for County owned equipment with NetMotion software
    2. Remote.scottcountyiowa.com
      • Provides network connectivity for non-County owned equipment
    3. Office 365
      • Provides e-mail connectivity for County and non-County owned equipment
      • Also can provide Office Productivity Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) to licensed users of the application on non-County owned equipment
    4. Telephone
      • IT is working to provide methods for County phone access at home
  3. IT is prepared to and is or has deployed several hardware solutions:
    1. Existing laptops
      • Netmotion can be installed if not already
    2. New laptops
      • Shipment is expected this month
      • Will replace existing laptops
      • Replaced laptops will be repurposed to new and telework users
    3. Mini-pc’s
      • Will be deployed with monitors, keyboard, and mice
    4. Netmotion will be installed
  4. IT completed additional tasks to support Telework:
    1. County Internet bandwidth has been doubled to accommodate increased load
    2. Web conferencing has been investigated
      • IT has a paid Zoom account
      • IT has several free WebEx accounts
      • IT can setup meetings for those without accounts
      • IT is investigating an organization account for WebEx with increased capabilities
      • For those with immediate and frequent web conferencing needs IT will:
        1. Link to WebEx documentation to sign up for free accounts
        2. Provide support
    3. Additional NetMotion licenses are being acquired
    4. Implemented a backup VPN solution to NetMotion (Cisco AnyConnect)

IT will assess the unique needs of each telework request to determine the best technology solution(s) to address the request.

IT is currently working to provide telework solutions for several offices.
