Keep it clean and maintain it, you should be rewarded with steady cooling and lower utility bills.

WINDOW AND PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONERS

  • Spring: Reinstall unit, inspect window seals for air leaks, reseal with weather stripping if needed.
  • Summer: Once a month clean filter.
  • Fall: Remove unit, it will extend the life of the product, clean the filter, if leaving in place, may want to cover, to prevent cold air coming in.

CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONERS

  • Spring: Service system, clean any filters, coils, inspect for refrigerant and no leaks.
  • Summer: After heavy use, check/change filters once per month, shrubs and branches should be clear of condenser for better efficiency.
  • Fall: Units are built to withstand weather, usually not necessary to cover the unit.
